ASHTEAD PARK - WILDLIFE POND CAR PARK: (What three words) ///square.oasis.late
This two and a half acre pond had been neglected for the last 50 years and a lot of work has been done to get it to a standard to open it to the membership. A lot of silt has been removed along with fallen trees and branches. The banks are still leaking in a few places and we hope to get them repaired throughout the year. The paths around the banks have been upgrading and fishing platforms installed, including one for disabled anglers. It's been a massive, but truly exciting task and we hope the rewards will be worth all the hard work.
We know there is a good head of fish and some large pike that have been seen but not caught. The pond was electro fished in 2014 which showed up some specimen roach and rudd in excess of 2lbs, specimen tench to 6lbs and some lovely crucians up to 4lbs. There is also now some good size tench and perch that were put in by the Environment Agency and also some tench fry that were spawned naturally. In 2020 we added over 1000 Bream to the Wildlife Pond which a favourite of the Match angler.
ASHTEAD PARK - ROOKERY (Lily) POND
A much smaller pond with a profusion of lilies. This pond dried up a few years ago and is only just returning to its former glory. It's wild state makes it the perfect place to enjoy a summers day.
The pond was lightly re-stocked in 2008 with a few Carp, Perch and Roach, which have now established nicely. Tench and Crucian Carp survived the drought and are now growing in numbers. No monsters in here but there are good bags of Roach to 2lbs.
